Deco Construction on the Palos Verdes Peninsula

The Palos Verdes Peninsula sits above the South Bay coast, with hillside lots, ocean views, and larger properties than most of the area. Building here has its own considerations: sloped lots, view lines, and, in many neighborhoods, homeowners-association design review on top of city permits. We work across all four peninsula cities.

A Bit of History

The Palos Verdes Peninsula was planned in the 1920s as a set of residential communities designed around the hills and the coastline, with winding roads that follow the land instead of cutting straight across it. That early planning is why the peninsula still feels open and green today, and why so many of its neighborhoods have design rules meant to protect views and keep the hillside character.

Palos Verdes Estates

Palos Verdes Estates is one of the older planned communities on the peninsula, with many homes in Mediterranean and Spanish styles. Remodels and additions here usually need to respect the character of the existing home and neighborhood. We match materials and rooflines so new work fits the original design.

Rancho Palos Verdes

Rancho Palos Verdes is the largest city on the peninsula, known for hillside neighborhoods and ocean views. Many homes sit on sloped lots, which affects how additions and new construction are designed and built. We build kitchen and bath remodels, additions, and new construction here, and we design around the slope and the view rather than fighting them.

Rolling Hills

Rolling Hills is a private, gated community with large lots and a strong focus on keeping its quiet, low-density character. Building here usually involves homeowners-association design review in addition to city permits. We handle both, and we keep you informed at each step.

Rolling Hills Estates

Rolling Hills Estates is known for larger lots, equestrian areas in parts of the city, and a quiet residential feel. We build remodels, additions, and new homes here, and we work within the local rules for lot coverage and design.

Permits on the Peninsula

Each peninsula city has its own permitting, and some communities also have a homeowners-association design review in addition to city permits. We handle both. What applies depends on your address and your project, and we walk you through it before any work starts.

What We Build in the Peninsula

A Couple of Local Questions

Do peninsula homes need HOA approval as well as a city permit?

In many neighborhoods, yes. Some communities have their own design review on top of the city permit. We handle both so you are not managing two processes yourself

Can you build on a steep, sloped lot?

Yes. Sloped and view lots are common up here. We design the project around the slope and the view instead of fighting them.
